Over the past 13 years, we’ve experienced how difficult it can be to teach people to relax. How did we come to this point? Something as basic as relaxation has become challenging for many to achieve. We are living in a highly stressful environment at this moment, particularly in Singapore. Studies indicate that about 87% of Singaporeans experience unhealthy levels of stress, meaning the majority of the population is stressed. This includes young adults, who face stress from academia, starting their careers, making the right financial choices, and so on.
Considering all these aspects of stress, we’ve designed a workshop on stress management. What can you expect from this workshop? We aim to tackle stress through a holistic, science-based approach. This workshop will include various activities, such as yoga poses and movements, to help you physically relieve stress. It will also incorporate breathing techniques to address stress-related breathing patterns. For example, stress can limit your lung capacity, causing short, shallow breaths.
We’ll explore how you can manage stress without disrupting your work or taking extra time out of your day. You’ll learn what you can do while sitting at your desk, even while working. We’ll go through several relaxation techniques, which are essential. In fact, when we lie down at night, we often fall asleep accidentally. There’s a constant thought process running in the background, and we end up sleeping alongside it, unaware that our bodies remain tense. That’s why relaxation techniques are crucial—they help you consciously relax your body and wake up feeling fully reenergised.
We’ll also help you cultivate mindfulness, enabling you to respond to stress with greater calm, composure, and control. This workshop is suitable for all levels, especially those who have never tried yoga before— you’ll enjoy it immensely. It’s also for experienced practitioners looking to sharpen their focus on stress relief. By the end of the session, you’ll have practical tools and a starting point to manage your stress levels independently on a daily basis.
